From Survival to Soundwaves: The Rise of Coogi, the Italian Gringo Who Turned Pain into Purpose
When Coogi isn’t in the studio crafting lyrics, he’s focused on business and spending time with his family — grounding himself in the same values that shaped his early years. A name echoing from the streets of Brazil to the stages of Europe, Coogi is more than an artist — he’s living proof that dreams can be reborn, even in the aftermath of struggle.

“Sono nato in Italia ma cresciuto in America.”
“My journey has been like a roller coaster,” he reflects. Raised within immigrant roots in the United States, Coogi grew up watching his mother juggle three under-the-table jobs just to put food on the table. “I didn’t want to ask her for anything — it was already hard enough for her to feed two kids.”
His focus in school wasn’t grades — it was money. And life soon took a turn into rougher paths. “But we’ll talk about that another time,” he says with a knowing pause — one that holds decades of silent resilience.
Music has always been a background rhythm in Coogi’s life — in fact, it was how he learned English. But despite being surrounded by rap battles and studio sessions, he never stepped into the booth himself… until everything changed.
In 2023, under house arrest and facing the consequences of past decisions, Coogi reached a breaking point. Or rather, a turning point.
“A friend came over to help me record for the first time,” he shares. What started as a poem turned into a song — one that lit up the face of his youngest daughter. That moment sparked something inside him. “Still, I wasn’t sure if this was the right path for me… but I couldn’t ignore it either.”
Introducing the Italian Gringo
The name Coogi is already memorable, but his alter ego — Italian Gringo — came from a moment of cultural crossover. “I got that name in Brazil. Everyone kept calling me ‘gringo,’” he laughs. “So one day in the studio I used it — and later I realized how many other Italian gringos there are out there. People relate to that identity.”
This cultural blending reflects his core belief: that music — like life — is better when you mix cultures, exchange experiences, and learn from each other.
Music as Healing — and Motivation
For Coogi, music isn’t just a craft — it’s survival. “It’s my therapy,” he says. “Music made me dream again.” A powerful statement from someone who once had to let go of his first dream: professional soccer. He started training at age five, determined to become the best. But by 14, life had pulled him in another direction.
Now, with every lyric, every beat, Coogi is reclaiming that dreamer spirit. “I want to make people move, have fun, and of course express the traumas I kept inside my whole life.”
His first live performance at a Philipp Plein event was the turning point. “That’s when I realized — this is what I really want to do. That gave me the confidence.”

Real Stories, Real Vision
Coogi’s creative process is a team effort. His music videos are born from real-life experiences — stories lived, not imagined. “We try to recreate those moments in our videos,” he says. Authenticity is at the core of everything he does.
He’s also building his craft behind the scenes: working consistently with his vocal coach, piano coach, and producer. “I want to stay consistent, releasing songs every month, performing in as many venues as possible so we get ready for the big stages.”
The Mission: Belonging
At this stage in his career, Coogi’s goal is clear: to show the world that he and his team belong in the music industry. He believes in connection, in shared culture, and in building bridges through sound.

“We’ve already made some connections,” he hints. “But we’re waiting for the right moment to make it official.”
And to young artists trying to find their way, he leaves this advice:
“Record as much as you can — even every day if possible. The more you record, the better you get. Don’t give up, don’t listen to negativity. Believe in yourself. Believe in your music.”
Coogi isn’t just making tracks. He’s making a statement.
A story that started with survival is now a mission driven by meaning.
And if there’s one thing we can expect from the Italian Gringo — it’s that the best is yet to come.
